Eagle Scout Project March 16th

Good morning!

My name is Thomas Doyle, and I am a Life Scout with Troop 62 in Winter Park. I am also a Cross Country Mountain bike racer with NICA, Winter Park Composite Team “Coyotes.” I am currently recruiting volunteers to help repair a bridge on the UCF Arboretum trails for my Eagle Scout Project. I would love to have some SORBA volunteers. I have attached some pictures of the bridge.

To improve the usability and safety of the UCF Nature Trails, I will be upgrading and repairing a much-used bridge. At the request of the land manager at UCF, I will be widening the bridge and adding side guards to help prevent accidents when off-road vehicles must access the trails for maintenance and emergencies. The bridge will require removing existing deteriorated boards, replacing planks, and stabilizing the bridge.

The workday will be Saturday, March 16th starting at 9:00 am. We should be done by about 1:00 pm, but any time that you are able to be there would be appreciated. If you have them, please bring work gloves, eye protection, bug spray, sunscreen, and cordless drills. I will have some to share if needed. Lunch will be provided.

I will need volunteers to RSVP to doylethomaspatrick@gmail.com so I have an accurate count and can send volunteer waivers and information on where to meet.

Thank you for your continued assistance with this project.

Regards,

Thomas Doyle
